Once again, summertime offers the opportunity to relax and enjoy the
outdoors. The Voorhees Township Committee is pleased to welcome the
summer of 2008 with our annual “Summer Twilight Series,”
with five events scheduled for the “Great Lawn” at
Connolly Park. We have another great group of performers offering free
entertainment to residents of all ages.
The first show will bring a touch of the Florida Keys with the Jimmy
Buffet Tribute Band, Parrotbeach. The show will be held on Thursday,
June 19. Come out and be a “Parrot head” for the night,
enjoy the Jimmy Buffet - style music and indulge in the tropical
lifestyle. Non-alcoholic margaritas will be available to enhance the
experience.
The second show is scheduled for Thursday, July 17 and will feature
Bruce in the USA, the world’s # 1 tribute to Bruce Springsteen
& The E Street Band. Bruce in the USA is much more than just
another tribute…This high-energy musical experience is a
note-perfect and visually-active re-creation of a Bruce Springsteen
& the E Street Band show. Voorhees Township is having a real live
“Bruce Bash!” Clarence Clemens, who joined the band for a
set in New York recently, claimed it was the greatest tribute
he’s ever seen…Can’t argue with “The Big
Man.”
For the first time in the Summer Twilight Series history, Voorhees
Township brings back-to-back concerts to “The Great Lawn”
at Connolly Park. Starting on Thursday, August 14 with a group of
young talented musicians who will provide a tribute to Dave Matthews.
This cover band re-creates the dynamic stylings of Dave Matthews. You
just might hear Dave’s big hit and everyone’s favorite
tune “Crash Into Me.”
On Friday, August 15, Voorhees Township welcomes back Big Shot, New
York’s world class tribute to recording artist Billy Joel. This
show promises sights and sounds strikingly similar to an actual Billy
Joel performance.
We will conclude the Summer Twilight Series with the Township’s
annual Movie Night in the Park on Saturday, September 27 (Rain date of
Saturday, October 4th). The students in the Voorhees Elementary and
Middle Schools will vote on their favorite movie to be shown on the
“big screen.”
The Township’s “Summer Twilight Series” provides fun
for all ages. All events will take place at Connolly Park on
Centennial Blvd. with plenty of free parking.
